Rendlesham in Suffolk is a small village which until the mid 1990’s was an RAF American air base and is still actually known locally as RAF Bentwaters.
When the base closed in the 90’s, leaving just 400 RAF homes on site, housing developers moved in and commenced building new housing. Currently, there are now 1700 new homes on site.
Seven years ago and with the support of Costcutter, Mr and Mrs Rosser moved into and converted what was the American Burger Bar in Rendlesham village, into the 2,300 sq ft supermarket they trade from today. The local post office was also purchased and brought into the new shop and from a standing start in September 2004 the supermarket has grown in line with the village. Last year the turnover reached 1.5 million and is on course this year to achieve 1.6million.
The store was completely refurbished by the Jordon Group in November 2011 and has received a fantastic response from its customers seeing an increase in turnover and footfall. Turnover is up 8% ahead of last year since the refit in November and is set to continue rising year on year. Owner Mrs Rosser is delighted with the results and the Jordon Group.
