The New Year brought a new image for local Nisa Store ‘Global Foods’ in Smethwick, Birmingham, and what a transformation it is. Having acquired the store in the 1970’s this family business has really stood the test of time in the Convenience Retail market. But, being a household name in the community since the 70’s ‘Global’ was in need of a little bit of TLC to make it 2017 ready.
New Image for Global Foods
After a long search and comparison of shopfitting contractors, the husband and wife team Harvey and Jas finally decided to Choose the Jordon Group to carry out the re-fit. Jas commented, “Jordon’s just came up trumps, we looked at the competition but Jordon’s had the edge and so many people had recommended them, that’s why we chose them.”
Harvey and Jas really wanted to embrace new products, services and technologies into the store. The Jordon Group’s Retail Design Consultant Chris Moore, who project managed the re-fit worked alongside them every step of the way in order to deliver exactly what they wanted.
High on the list was energy efficiency and energy reduction so the team chose the Arneg Osaka with vertical glass doors. The Arneg Osaka is the result of the most advanced energy saving technologies, innovative compared to the other closed models but greater goods are displayed on shelves much closer to the consumer.
The team also chose to delve into new markets by opting for their Costa Coffee machine, a hot ‘food to go’ option for the time poor shopper and the super modern Kodak Express machine, enabling customers to print instant pictures direct from their smart phones or memory stick.
Jas said, “We were a bit unsure how the customers would take the Kodak Express machine at first but they have really embraced it. Already people have used it a lot and it saves them the trek of going all the way into Birmingham to get their images printed”.
The brand new store was re-launched in November 2016 ready for the New Year. The Husband and Wife team are delighted with the results and said the store is literally unrecognisable
Jas commented, “The customers just love it, they can’t believe they have walked into Global when they come through the doors. We had a little girl in the other day and she said, Daddy, I thought we were coming to Global, her Dad said we are in Global sweetheart! Our footfall has increased already too, we are getting new customers as well as the old ones returning, and we can’t wait to see how things will be in a few months time”.
